About the role:

As a Nurse Consultant working with our Inner Northern Adelaide team, you will be providing training, mentoring, resource coordination and provision, and evaluation of programs.

You will be:

  • Providing clinical leadership to staff;
  • Coordinating and leading projects and/or programs that contribute clinical expertise to improve client/service outcomes;
    Working collaboratively with members of the CaFHS inter-professional team in coordinating the processes relating to the referral into the service as well as achieving and evaluating the core areas of focus.
  • Integrating contemporary information and evidence with personal experience to support the decision making, innovative thinking and objective analysis that is expected at this level
  • Ensuring mechanisms are in place to support ongoing education where work and learning are integrated.

Your experience will include:

  • Registered Nurse or Registered Nurse and Midwife with at least 3 years post registration experience.
  • Supervision of students, enrolled nurses and less experienced registered nurses.
  • Competence in the relevant area of nursing and or midwifery practice in accordance with the relevant standards.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire others to work together as team to achieve objectives.
  • Providing assessment and care to families and children with complex issues including domestic violence, mental health, substance abuse, child abuse, and co-morbidities.
  • Ability to take a leadership role in coordinating and supporting inter-professional staff with a commitment to promoting organisational values and behaviours, positive change management processes, team work and inclusiveness.
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, industrial agreements, standards, codes, ethics and competency standards
  • Knowledge of Australian National Safety and Quality and Safety Health Service Standards
  • An understanding of the impacts of mental health, substance abuse and domestic violence on infants, Children and families
  • Knowledge on the effects of trauma on young infants, children and families and evidence based interventions
  • Extensive knowledge of the impact of the social determinants of health outcomes of infants, children and families.
  • Knowledge of parenting, family relationships and child behaviour and development, in particular attachment theory and trauma informed care approaches
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the concepts and practices relating to risk assessment, risk management, care planning and intervention with infants, children and families.

 

Additional relevant tertiary qualifications in nursing or human services related discipline including Child and Family Health Nursing will be highly regarded.

Screening requirements:

  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse and or Nurse/Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate
  • DHS Working With Children Check (WWCC) - Prospective or current employee clearance
  • National Police Certificate (NPC) for employment involving unsupervised contact with vulnerable groups.
  • The Immunisation Risk for this position is - Category A
    • Mandatory Vaccinations - Diphtheria, Pertussis (Whooping Cough), Polio, Hepatitis B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (Chickenpox), Tuberculosis (TB) Assessment.
    • Strongly Recommended Vaccinations - Hepatitis A, Seasonal Influenza, SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19)

SA Health Services are required to implement the Addressing vaccine preventable disease: Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy in the workplace.

Appointment will be subject to a satisfactory Criminal History Check and appropriate immunisation requirements.
