 The Arts in Health Unit are looking for a passionate and experienced Program Assistant to join the Acute Allied Health Team!

The Arts in Health Unit at SALHN integrates arts and culture into healthcare, enhancing patient healing, staff wellbeing, and creating healing environments. Through programs, exhibitions, music, literature, and more, we deliver meaningful cultural experiences in healthcare.

The Program Assistant reports to the Manager of Arts in Health and assists in the administration and development of the Arts in Health Unit and Program by contributing to the delivery of a range of arts and cultural activities, projects and initiatives. Including facilitating the operation and management of the galleries and an extensive music, performing arts and literature program.

About the role: 

As the Program Assistant, duties for the role will include:

  • Participating in the strategic planning and development of the unit
  • Contribute to the maintenance of the collection and installations across the interior and exterior of the hospital
  • Liaising with diverse internal and external collaborators including, visiting artists and musicians and other creative practitioners, hospital staff and external arts and culture organisations
  • Maintaining manual and electronic filing systems, data management and information flows
  • Prioritising, coordinating and monitoring workflow

About you:

  • Strong computing skills, including email and word processing
  • Demonstrated experience in project facilitation and management, including financial processes and payments
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimum supervision but as part of a team in a busy and sometimes stressful hospital environment
  • Proven ability to successfully manage and facilitate small arts related projects from inception to completion
