Overview:

The Nursing Director Immunisation will:

  • Provide high-level statewide leadership regarding immunisations and be a role-model to nurses and other health professionals providing immunisation services in SA, and
  • Manage all aspects of service delivery operationally and strategically, including developing, implementing, managing, and monitoring the statewide immunisation program, polices, education programs and clinical standards of practice related to immunisation, and
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of national immunisation policy, standards and guidelines through membership of the Jurisdictional Immunisation Committee and other relevant national groups, and
  • Monitor both the Commonwealth and state Governments financial contribution to the South Australian immunisation program budget, and
  • Ensure Immunisation Section activities align to DHW and Public Health Division strategic objectives, and is
  • Accountable to the Executive Director, Communicable Disease Control Branch (CDCB) for the provision of publicly funded immunisations within South Australia (SA) including the National Immunisation Program.

Criminal History Screening Requirement

  • A National Police Certificate (NPC) for employment involving no contact with vulnerable groups is required for this position (general employment)
  • A DHS ‘Working With Children Check’ (WWCC) is required for this position

Immunisation Risk for this position is Category C (minimal patient contact)

SA Health Services are required to implement the Addressing vaccine preventable disease: Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy in the workplace.

Special Conditions

  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
  • Some out-of-hours work is required.
  • Fieldwork may necessitate overnight stays.
  • Some intra and Interstate travel will be required.
  • Appointment is subject to immunisation risk category requirements (see page 1). There may be ongoing immunisation requirements that must be met.
