The YNLHN Midwifery Group Practice (MGP) commenced in the region in 2019 and was one of the first MGP models in Regional South Australia, with a total of 5 birthing sites within the network, there are approximately 540 births across the network and up to 700 women cared for. The YNLHN is an all risk MGP model delivering Midwifery care in Hospitals with a level 3 capability. Midwives in the YNLHN work within the ACM consultation and referral guidelines and lead maternity care collegially with GP Obstetricians and Obstetric Specialist in the provision of Perinatal care of the women in the MGP model. As a recipient of the 2020/21 SA Nursing and Midwifery Excellence Awards for ‘Excellence in Person Centred Care’ and the First Regional LHN to receive BFHI accreditation in 2021, the Y&N Network provides progressive and innovative care to the women who engage in the MGP program. Ensuring that Midwives work to their scope of practice, YNLHN encourage Midwives towards endorsement and credentialing, leadership opportunities, women’s health specialisation and ongoing professional development to be the best Midwife they can be.

About you:

  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse/Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, with a current practising certificate.
  • Minimum 3 years post-registration experience as a Nurse/Midwife (preferred).
  • Competence and experience or interest in Midwifery Group Practice or continuity care models, meeting relevant standards.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience supervising assistants in midwifery, student midwives, enrolled nurses, and less experienced midwives.
