About the Opportunity

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the Women’s and Babies Division as a Clinical Nurse/Midwife Diabetes Education, where you will be responsible for:

  • Providing nursing/midwifery services and delivering quality, patient-centered care to women and their babies with diabetes during pregnancy (Type 1, Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, and Gestational Diabetes).
  • Working in partnership with women and their families and collaborating with other health professionals and agencies to achieve optimal health outcomes.
  • Accepting accountability for personal practice standards and responsibilities for activities delegated to others, including guiding and developing less experienced staff.
  • Overseeing the provision of nursing/midwifery care within a team or unit.
  • Consolidating knowledge and skills while developing capacity through experience and continuous professional development.
  • Negotiating portfolio allocations aligned with career development plans determined during performance reviews.
  • Practicing within agreed evidence-based practice standards, integrating advanced clinical knowledge, and demonstrating necessary competencies to provide care relevant to each patient’s needs and achieve agreed outcomes.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse and/or Midwife by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practising certificate
  • Registered Nurse or Midwife with at least 3 years post registration experience
  • Demonstrated competence in the relevant area of nursing/midwifery practice in accordance with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) and relevant professional college standards of practice
  • Has an interest in working with patients who have Type 1 & 2 Diabetes Mellitus, and Gestational Diabetes.
  • Effective communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
