About the role

Join our dedicated Blood Bank team at the Royal Adelaide Hospital as a Medical Scientist, where you’ll play a vital role in delivering high-quality laboratory services. In this position, you will perform a range of critical functions, including testing and verifying pre-transfusion specimens, conducting antenatal serology and antibody investigations, and ensuring the accurate dispatch of blood and blood products. You will also validate quality control results, supporting the delivery of safe and effective transfusion services.

With opportunities to apply your scientific and technical expertise, you will contribute to routine diagnostic techniques, from planning and execution to analysis and reporting. Additionally, you will be involved in developing, selecting, and adopting innovative methodologies, enhancing the laboratory’s capabilities. About You

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Medical Scientist to join our Blood Bank team. You will bring strong technical expertise, a collaborative mindset, and a commitment to delivering high-quality laboratory services. Key requirements include:

  • Technical Expertise: Experience in using analytical laboratory equipment, laboratory computing, and performing high-quality diagnostic tests following standard procedures.
  • Knowledge and Compliance: Broad understanding of Immunohaematology and Transfusion Medicine, as well as knowledge of quality procedures, accreditation, and legislative requirements in pathology laboratories.
  • Problem-Solving and Initiative: Proven ability to identify and resolve issues, troubleshoot laboratory equipment, and proactively address potential problems in a timely manner.
  • Teamwork and Communication: Strong ability to work effectively in a team environment, manage time efficiently, and communicate clearly with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels.
