Are you passionate about providing quality care and making a difference in the lives of others? Kingston Soldier's Memorial Hospital is seeking dedicated Direct Care Workers to join our Residential Care Home team.

About the Role:

As a Direct Care Worker (Residential), you will play a vital role in delivering direct client services to our residents. You will work under the supervision of the Nurse Unit Manager and collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of health professionals to ensure our residents receive compassionate and comprehensive care.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist residents with daily living activities, including:

  • Bed making and maintaining cleanliness
  • Bathing, showering, personal hygiene, and grooming
  • Toileting and continence management
  • Mobility support and the safe use of mechanical aids
  • Communication assistance with aids (e.g., glasses and hearing aids)
  • Distribution of clean laundry and personal attire
  • Cleaning of equipment and maintaining a tidy environment
  • Transportation of clients within the facility
  • Support for residents with special needs (e.g., pressure care)
  • Contribute to client assessments and assist with medication self-administration under medical authority
  • Help with routine treatments and procedures

  • Strong team player with effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to relate to individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Proven track record of meeting deadlines and timeframes.
  • Discretion and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
  • Capability to perform general tasks under supervision.
  • Experience exercising judgment and initiative in daily tasks.
  • Proficiency in using computer software, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Commitment to customer service principles and best practices.
  • Understanding of the Occupational Health, Safety, and Welfare Act, along with Risk Management principles.
