About the role: 

The Lifestyle Coordinator - Assistants in Nursing (AINs) will work across the Geriatric Evaluation and Management (GEM) wards within the Division of RAP to support the Multi-Disciplinary team to undertake individual and group based activities to maximise participation and the maintenance of the patient’s functioning - socially, culturally, spiritually and emotionally. Duties for the role will include:

  • Consulting with patients, families, staff and the management team to assist in the design and implementation of diversional therapy techniques and activities to engage our patients in purposeful programs under the supervision of the Nurse Unit Manager and the Allied Health Team leader. 
  • Working within a plan of nursing care developed by the RN and work under the supervision and direction of an RN at all times. This supervision maybe direct or indirect.
  • The Lifestyle Coordinator AIN supports positive patient outcomes by providing supportive care to patients in a patient minder role. Employees at this level are accountable for their own actions.

About you:

  • Enrolled as a student in an undergraduate program in nursing or midwifery and have completed any training required by the employer relevant to the safe and competent performance of work at this level; or
  • Undertaking a course approved by the Registration Authority for the preparation of Enrolled nurses; or
  • Holds a Certificate III or IV in a health-related discipline as listed on the Role Description.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Ability to provide person-centred care.
