About the role: 

In this full-time, short-term contract position, you will play a pivotal role in providing exceptional care and support to those navigating the complexities of mental health. As a trusted advisor, you will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, offering guidance, education, and expertise to ensure the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care.

Duties of this role include:

  • Utilising your extensive clinical knowledge and expertise to assess, plan, and evaluate care for individuals with complex mental health needs.
  • Fostering an environment of continuous learning and professional development by mentoring and supporting mental health staff.
  • Actively contributing to the development and implementation of evidence-based policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Advocating for patient rights and promoting recovery-oriented practices.

This is a single vacancy, with two possible appointment classifications. The successful applicant(s) will be appointed in the position appropriate to their skills, qualifications, and experience.

About you:

  • Advanced skills in undertaking a comprehensive bio-psychosocial assessment including risk assessments of consumers presenting with high or complex needs.
  • Advanced skills in individualised psychological treatment, care planning and coordinating comprehensive service provision and crisis intervention with people who have high or complex needs.
  • High level of competence in designing and implementing evidence-based psychological interventions including individual and group work.

Qualification specifications:

  • To be appointed as Nurse Consultant, you must be registered as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and hold a current practicing certificate. Additionally, must be enrolled in an approved mental health course or hold a qualification in mental health practice.
  • To be appointed as Senior Social Worker you must hold an appropriate degree or equivalent qualification which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
  • To be appointed as Senior Occupational Therapist you must hold an appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which entitles registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia
  • To be appointed as Senior Psychologist you must hold an appropriate degree or equivalent qualification recognised by the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA) and general registration with the PsyBA with an endorsed area of practice in Clinical Psychology. Additionally, you must hold approved supervisor status with the PsyBA at all levels of supervision.
