Join Our Team as a General Practitioner: Provide Expert Care and Contribute to Health Improvement in the Riverland Community

Are you a skilled and dedicated General Practitioner with a passion for providing high-quality patient care? We are looking for an experienced General Practitioner to join our team and provide exceptional inpatient, outpatient, and community-based general practice services across the Mallee Medical Practice and the Karoonda, Lameroo, and Pinnaroo Health Services. About the Role:

As a General Practitioner, you will be responsible for providing high-quality clinical services across multiple health services, including Mallee Medical Practice, Karoonda, Lameroo, and Pinnaroo Health Services. You will be required to work with limited or no direction or supervision, exercising a high degree of professional judgment and clinical competence. This role will also see you take on key leadership responsibilities, ensuring the smooth day-to-day management of the clinical workload and services across these sites.

You will be involved in responding to health site MET/Code Blue/Code Black calls, providing expert advice, and supporting teams in emergency situations. Additionally, you will supervise and mentor Trainee Medical Officers and GP registrars, fostering their professional development. As part of this role, you will engage in teaching, quality assurance activities, and health promotion initiatives aimed at improving community health outcomes. You will also have opportunities to conduct and support research within the Local Health Network, contributing to the continuous development of healthcare services in the region.

This position encourages teamwork and collaboration to ensure optimal clinical service delivery and outcomes. You will also provide expert advice for internal and external committees and workgroups as needed.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent. Appropriate Specialist Qualifications and registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration in General Practice; or another qualification as defined in the SA Medical Officers Award.
  • At least two years of post-graduate clinical experience in General Practice.
  • Sound Experience in emergency and procedural skills.
  • Good theoretical knowledge.
  • Sound examination and diagnostic skills in adult and paediatric medicine.
  • Knowledge and awareness of quality improvement activities and clinical risk reduction and patient safety techniques.
  • At least two years relevant experience employed in a medical position in a community health centre, a primary care centre or an emergency department of a general hospital.
  • Experience in management of medical and surgical emergencies, including application of Advanced Life Support management principles as a team leader.
  • Proven experience in delivering high quality and safe care consistent with the National Safety and Quality Health Care Service Standards. (Mandatory for all clinical positions.)
