The Haematology Department at Southern Adelaide Local Health Network, Flinders Medical Centre is seeking a passionate and dedicated Apheresis Nurse Consultant to assist the team to lead clinical excellence and innovation in patient care. Reporting operationally to the SALHN Head of Haematology Unit and professionally to the Advanced Nursing Director in the Division of Medicine and Critical Care, in this role you will have the chance to use your expertise to elevate patient care by:

  • Delivering Therapeutic Apheresis: Providing expert care in therapeutic Apheresis procedures
  • Conducting Stem Cell Collections: Managing and performing stem cell collections with precision
  • Running SCIg and Vaccination Clinics: Organising and running SCIg clinics and vaccination clinics
  • Driving Quality Initiatives: Leading quality improvement projects and ensuring clinical practices meet the highest standards and contributing to quality management systems

Experience

  • In Apheresis procedures including haematopoietic stem cell collections, Leucopheresis and therapeutic plasma exchange
  • With chemotherapy and other anti-cancer treatment administration as well as Haematology/Bone Marrow Transplant Nursing
  • In basic computing, including email, word processing and excel
  • In quality improvement activities e.g. the development and/or implementation of clinical standards, practice guidelines, protocols/audits and quality indicators
  • Experience or prior exposure to quality management systems relating to ISO15189 and NPAAC
  • Understanding and experience in SCIg management and post-transplant vaccination scheduling and administration

Educational/Vocational Qualifications

  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
  • Tertiary qualifications relevant to Oncology and Haematology Nursing e.g. Graduate Diploma and prior experience in Apheresis
