About the Role

Are you passionate about mental health recovery and the power of lived experience? As a Peer Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals on their recovery journey. Working within a non-clinical framework, you will use your personal experience with mental health challenges to offer guidance, encouragement, and hope to consumers. Through peer-led initiatives, group facilitation, and one-on-one support, you will help individuals build resilience, develop self-management strategies, and recognise their strengths.

In this role, you will collaborate with clinical teams to create a supportive and inclusive environment where recovery is not only possible but expected. You will serve as a role model, sharing insights and practical strategies to empower individuals in their mental health journey. By fostering a sense of belonging and connection, you will contribute to a culture that values lived experience and promotes wellbeing. About You

You are a compassionate and resilient individual with a lived experience of mental health challenges and a passion for supporting others on their recovery journey. Your ability to connect with people, share insights, and work collaboratively with clinical teams makes you an ideal candidate for this role.

  • Lived Experience & Support – You have personal experience living with a mental health condition and can use your journey to inspire and support others.

  • Strong Communication & Teamwork – You can effectively engage with consumers, carers, and service providers while working collaboratively within a team environment.

  • Knowledge & Understanding – You have a sound understanding of recovery principles, trauma-informed care, and strengths-based practice, as well as knowledge of community services available for mental health support.

  • Resilience & Self-Care – You can manage your own stress, recognise your limits, and role model positive mental and physical health promotion strategies.
