About the Opportunity

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the Aboriginal Health team as a Aboriginal Health Project Manager, where you will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing the WCHN Bloom Grant Project focused on enhancing sexual, reproductive, and perinatal health literacy and care engagement for Aboriginal women
  • Developing and implementing a metropolitan-wide Yarning Circles model to engage Aboriginal women
  • Collaborating with care providers to strengthen cultural understanding and responsiveness
  • Working closely with research partner SAHMRI and the SA Maternal, Neonatal and Gynaecology Strategic Executive Leadership Committee (MNGSELC)
  • Engaging with system leaders across LHNs, the Department for Health and Wellbeing (DHW), non-government organisations, and Aboriginal Health Community Controlled organisations
  • Partnering with local community leaders and consumers to ensure culturally appropriate project delivery
  • Meeting project deliverables and timelines as set by the Bloom research governance group

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Experience in working with Aboriginal people and Aboriginal communities to resolve complex issues (Aboriginal cultural experience is essential to this role)
  • Demonstrated experience in program and project management roles and knowledge of recognised and accepted project management methodologies.
  • Well-developed interpersonal, communication and leadership skills, which demonstrate a capacity build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders to work collaboratively to resolve complex issues.
  • Ability to identify performance outcomes, set priorities, plan, and schedule work to achieve objectives and meet deadline within a context of completing work demands/priorities and tight time frames.
  • Knowledge of current social determinants that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders face.
  • Understanding of the principles and operations of the health system, including access and equity issues for Aboriginal people and communities.
