Overview

You will ensure the effective function of the Chemotherapy and Medical Infusion Unit at the Southern Fleurieu Health Service in Victor Harbor. This will be achieved through consultation, staff education, quality improvement, policy development and implementation activities. Supporting the Nurse Unit Manager in the leadership of nurses within the service, you will promote continuity and consistency of care. You will contribute to the implementation of practice changes and assist the Nurse Unit Manager with service management responsibilities. These will include performance management processes, recruitment, staffing, leave management, rostering, work allocation and attendance management, financial and supplies planning and monitoring. You will accept accountability for your own practice standards, activities delegated to others, and for the guidance and development of less experienced staff within the service. Acting as a resource person, you will maintain a learning culture by encouraging reflection and professional development, and assisting others to maintain portfolios and records of learning.

You will be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and hold or be eligible to hold a current practicing certificate. This will be supported by enrolment in an approved Oncology/Haematology postgraduate course or by holding a qualification in Oncology/Haematology nursing practice. With prior experience in management and leadership roles, you will be capable of giving supervision to student nurses, Enrolled Nurses and less experienced Registered Nurses. You will use your effective communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills to maintain a cohesive multidisciplinary team and resolve local or immediate nursing care problems.
