Support high-quality Ophthalmic care within Southern Adelaide.

About the role: 

Working as a Retinal Specialist, you will assess a patient clinically, order and interpret appropriate investigations and then manage the patient based upon an understanding of basic clinical sciences.

You will possess the skills that pertain to the General Ophthalmologist. In this role, you will exercise appropriate decision making skills, clinical reasoning and judgement and is able to engage in health promotion, disease prevention and clinical teaching.

Duties for the role will include:

  • Conducting inpatient, outpatient and/or procedural consultations of patients including assessing, analysing, diagnosing, managing, treating, educating and supporting patients presenting to them.
  • Monitoring and reviewing the ongoing management and treatment of patients assigned to their care.
  • Ensuring the maintenance of comprehensive clinical records which document significant patient management decisions.
  • Ensuring effective communication with other care providers to promote continuity of patient care.

About you:

  • You must hold a bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent and be registerable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people including colleagues and other professional staff.
  • A commitment to providing a quality service to patients and their families.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team.
