OPS1: $48,664 - $55,500 p.a + Superannuation & Salary Sacrifice Benefits

Are you passionate about dental care and looking for an opportunity to make a real impact? We’re seeking a dedicated Dental Assistant to join one of our vibrant teams at our Adelaide Dental Hospital. 

The Adelaide Dental Hospital (ADH) is located on Levels 11 and 12 of the University of Adelaide Health and Medical Sciences Building, on the corner of North Terrace and George Street (North), Adelaide, South Australia. The ADH is the sole referral hub for public dental specialist care in SA, and trains many of the state’s oral health workforce including undergraduate and postgraduate students.

In this exciting role, you’ll provide essential reception and dental assisting support, ensuring smooth clinic operations and high-quality patient care. You’ll play a key role in maintaining infection control, sterilisation procedures, and managing client records, all while following our organisation’s best practices. Your attention to detail and organisational skills will help create a welcoming environment for patients and a smooth experience for the dental team.

Adelaide Dental Hospital has mulitple Units including:

The General Practice Unit (GPU) is a teaching clinic and comprises of registered dentists and undergraduate students providing general and emergency care to eligible clients.

The Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Unit (OMFS) is a specialist unit of SA Dental, Royal Adelaide Hospital (RAH) and the University of Adelaide. Clients are referred for a wide range of dental, medical, and surgical treatment needs. The Unit is also a teaching facility for undergraduate and post graduate dental students, dentists and provides specialist training for medical registrars in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

The Specialist Restorative Unit (SRU) is comprised of a multidisciplinary team providing specialist dental care encompassing non-surgical and surgical intervention in the areas of Endodontics, Periodontics & Prosthodontics, and postgraduate training in these disciplines. 

The Orthodontic Unit (ORTHO) provides specialist orthodontic services to eligible clients within South Australia whilst providing Clinical education for undergraduate and postgraduate students (in conjunction with the University of Adelaide).

The Special Needs Unit (SNU) provides oral health care and management for people with medical complexities, as well as clients with physical, and intellectual disabilities. The Unit also provides clinical placements for undergraduate and postgraduate students.

About You:

  • Minimum 6 months experience in chair-side dental assistance, infection control, and reprocessing reusable medical devices.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage priorities, solve problems, and work independently.
  • Solid customer service experience and proficiency in administrative tasks, including using Microsoft Office and maintaining clinical systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of dental terminology, equipment, procedures, and contemporary infection control and sterilisation practices.
