Exciting career opportunity in mental health rehabilitation!

We’re looking for health professionals to join us as we open a new, state-of-the-art Mental Health Rehabilitation Service (MHRS) at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (TQEH).

This is your chance to be part of a new patient focussed service that prioritises recovery and the delivery of best-practice, trauma-informed care in a brand new 24-bed building. If you’re passionate about being part of a safe and connected organisation and looking for a rewarding career in mental health, apply today!

About the role

As a Carer Consultant in the MHRS, you will play a key role in supporting families and carers of consumers. Using your lived experience as a carer of someone with significant mental health challenges, you’ll ensure families are included in the recovery journey, providing guidance, advocacy, and emotional support. Collaborating with inpatient, community, and rehabilitation services, you’ll foster a whole-systems approach that promotes connection, social inclusion, and hope for the future. In this role, you will facilitate ongoing engagement with carers, offer education and resources, and advocate for carer-inclusive practices, helping shape service delivery to ensure carer involvement is integral to consumer recovery.

For more information about the role, and essential educational/vocational qualifications that may be required, please refer to the role description.

About you

You will bring strong communication skills, lived experience as a Carer, and a commitment to ensuring carer-inclusive practices are embedded in recovery-focused care. To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Lived Experience & Understanding: Personal experience of supporting a family member with significant mental health challenges and knowledge of strategies to assist both consumer and carer recovery.
  • Communication & Advocacy: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively between consumers, families, and service providers while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Collaboration & Teamwork: A commitment to working as part of a multidisciplinary team, ensuring that carers are included in the recovery process and their voices are heard.
  • Knowledge & Resources: A broad understanding of lived experience strategies and knowledge of available community services for mental health consumers, families, and carers.

If you are ready to make a meaningful impact by supporting and advocating for carers, we encourage you to apply today!
