About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Technical Officer (TGO2) to join the National Referral Laboratory team. In this important role, you will contribute to the delivery of high-quality research and diagnostic services, with a particular focus on the analysis of inborn errors of metabolism. Your work will involve handling and processing clinical samples, performing complex biochemical assays, and supporting both research and clinical trial activities within a highly specialised laboratory environment.

As a key team member, you’ll apply your technical skills and laboratory expertise to ensure the accuracy and integrity of results, while also providing supervisory support as required. You’ll contribute to continuous improvement by preparing reports and making recommendations on the technical suitability of laboratory equipment, processes, and results, ensuring compliance with RCPA, NATA, and FDA guidelines. About You

You’re a technically skilled and motivated laboratory professional with a strong interest in diagnostic science and animal models of disease. To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • A Diploma or Advanced Diploma in a recognised scientific discipline or equivalent, with proven experience working in a laboratory setting

  • Hands-on experience with laboratory mice, along with demonstrated ability in pipetting, dilutions, and the use of analytical laboratory equipment

  • Strong problem-solving and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads, meet deadlines, and work independently or as part of a team

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to customer service, quality standards, and Work Health and Safety practices
