About the Opportunity:

The Child and Family Health Service (CaFHS) is responsible for developing and implementing effective strategies to improve early childhood health, development and wellbeing outcomes for children, predominantly up to school age, and their families in South Australia.  This is achieved by the promotion of positive parenting and provision of universal and targeted programs.

 

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the CaFHS team as a Nurse Consultant, where you will be responsible for:

  • Integrate contemporary information and evidence with personal experience to support the decision making, innovative thinking and objective analysis that is expected at this level e.g. expert clinical knowledge underpins and informs the ability to support, lead and/or provide expert clinical care to improve and optimise care.
  • Provide direct, expert clinical nursing care, select and demonstrate assessment, decision making and therapeutic interventions to a defined population of clients and evaluate progress.
  • Fosters a team environment which promotes positivity, learning and development, acknowledges cultural and personal differences, and encourages creativity, innovation and honesty
  • Be required in an inter-professional primary health care setting to apply nursing expertise to assess clients, select and implement different therapeutic interventions and/or support programs and evaluate client progress.
  • Responding to requests for information in relation to children and families in a timely, accurate and professional way.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate; or
  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse and Midwife by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
  • Registered Nurse with at least 3 years post registration experience.
  • Effective leadership skills including highly developed skills in communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated contemporary experience in providing assessment and care to families and children with complex issues including domestic violence, mental health, substance abuse, child abuse, and co-morbidities.
  • Demonstrated competence in the relevant area of nursing and or midwifery practice in accordance with the relevant standards.
