Join our Day Rehabilitation Service team as an Exercise Physiologist and help support our commitment to quality patient care. 

The Exercise Physiologist participates as a member of the Ambulatory Rehabilitation Team ensuring optimal care and outcomes by providing a comprehensive range of therapy services to patients receiving supported early discharge and home rehabilitation within the southern metropolitan area.

The Exercise Physiologist works in collaboration with other members of the interdisciplinary team, to effectively plan and provide therapeutic interventions based on patient goals. This may involve consultation and liaison with the team, other professional disciplines and non-governmental organisations.

About the role: 

As the Exercise Physiologist, duties for the role will include:

  • Assessing patients’ physical abilities, problems and goals using a variety of formal and informal assessments
  • Planning and implementing intervention programs including using a broad range of technologies such as ipads, videoconferencing equipment and therapeutic exercise apps.
  • Providing a consultative service to other team members, disciplines and agencies
  • Communicating regularly with the Manager, Day Rehabilitation Service regarding all issues relevant to exercise physiology services in Ambulatory Rehabilitation
  • Documenting assessment findings and interventions

About you:

  • Ability to critically analyse or evaluate issues related to Exercise Physiology care in a manner which can be applied to quality activities, service evaluation, professional education or research with a commitment to ongoing professional development
  • High levels of responsibility and organisational skills including the ability to prioritise work, meet deadlines, delegate appropriately.  This includes the ability to supervise students, allied health assistants and junior staff
  • Experience as a clinician in the assessment and provision of high quality rehabilitation to clients with a variety of neurological or orthopaedic conditions
  • Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification, usually in human movements, inclusive of the exercise physiology elective and eligible for accreditation from Exercise Sports Science Australia (ESSA)
  • Proven experience in delivering high quality and safe care consistent with the National Safety and Quality Health Care Service Standards
