As per the SMOEA 2022, the total term of employment with SA Health will be 3 years. Rotations following the initial 12-month allocation to PICU Registrar will be determined in line with your training and SA Health’s requirements. This may include transfer to other SA Health locations to perform work appropriate to classification, skills, and capabilities.

 

About the Opportunity

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit team as an Advanced Trainee/Registrar, where you will be responsible for:

 

  • Provide high-quality care to critically ill and injured children as part of a specialised Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) team.
  • Gain broad exposure to paediatric critical care under the supervision of experienced Consultants.
  • Participate in the assessment and management of acute paediatric emergencies, including trauma and retrieval services.
  • Perform emergency and routine procedures appropriate to your level of training and experience.
  • Engage in clinical teaching and contribute to ongoing education within the unit.
  • Participate in research projects related to paediatric intensive care to support evidence-based practice.

 

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

 

  • Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (BMBS) or equivalent,
  • Registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner
  • Minimum 2 years satisfactory experience as an Intern/Resident Medical Officer/Registrar in a recognised teaching hospital.
  • Clinical skills appropriate for the duties performed in the work unit
  • Ability to work as an effective team member in a multi-disciplinary environment
  • Problem solving and decision-making skills (both clinical and individual)
