About the Role

As an Administrative Services Officer with the South Australian Prison Health Service (SAPHS), you'll play a vital role in supporting the delivery of healthcare services across South Australia's correctional facilities. Working within a dynamic multi-disciplinary team, you will provide high-quality, confidential administrative and reception support to both clinical and non-clinical staff. This role is essential in ensuring the smooth operation of patient administration functions, including managing correspondence, maintaining accurate records, and supporting the timely transfer of medical information across SAPHS sites.

You will be the first point of contact for many internal and external stakeholders, so a professional, customer-focussed approach is key. With a strong emphasis on confidentiality, accuracy, and collaboration, you’ll work closely with the site Nurse Unit Manager (NUM), and the Patient Administration Manager to help maintain efficient healthcare services in line with community standards. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a team making a real difference in the lives of some of the most vulnerable members of our society.

About You

You are a motivated and organised professional with a strong commitment to providing exceptional administrative support in a fast-paced environment. Your ability to maintain confidentiality, communicate effectively, and manage multiple priorities will see you thrive in this vital role.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to liaise confidently across diverse teams and external agencies.

  • Demonstrated experience in administrative support, customer service, and working with health information systems and Microsoft Office programs.

  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively under pressure, while maintaining confidentiality and high attention to detail.

  • Solid understanding of records management standards and experience handling sensitive information in line with legislative requirements.
