About the role

The Central Adelaide Local Health Network (CALHN) Pain Management Unit is an outpatient multidisciplinary service that provides assessment, treatment and a management plan for patients with persistent pain. The service comprises specialist pain clinicians working as an integrated team to address the physical and psycho-social factors that may impact on the persistence of pain and its consequent disability. The Senior Pharmacist is responsible for supporting Pain Management Unit clinicians and patients around safe medicines use, particularly opioids in the management of persistent pain. This will include individual and group programs.  

You will play a key role in optimising patient outcomes through the safe, cost-effective, and high-quality use of pharmaceuticals. This includes contributing to the development and implementation of strategies that promote best practice, efficiency, and adherence to safety and quality standards. About You

You are a highly skilled and motivated pharmacy professional with a strong foundation in hospital practice, a passion for service improvement, and a proven ability to lead within multidisciplinary teams. Your analytical mindset, communication skills, and commitment to quality care make you an asset in complex clinical environments.

  • Strong leadership, supervision, and mentoring experience, with a demonstrated ability to guide both professional and non-professional staff and drive service improvement strategies.

  • Extensive hospital pharmacy experience with sound knowledge of pharmacy practices, relevant codes of practice, and clinical standards.

  • Exceptional communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse data, interpret research, and work both independently and collaboratively.

  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, and able to meet tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy in a complex healthcare setting.
