Under consultant supervision, as the Advanced Trainee, you will provide clinical services of the highest possible standards predominantly with an obstetric focus. This position is designed to meet the training requirements of advanced RANZCOG trainees and you will undertake a variety of duties including exposure to both Obstetrics and Gynaecology. You will have the opportunity to work closely with experienced healthcare professionals, gaining invaluable hands-on experience and mentorship in a supportive learning environment.

About the role: 

Reporting to the Head of Unit for Obstetrics and Gynaecology, some of your duties as the Advanced Trainee may involve:

  • Ensuring that medical records (e.g. case notes) are documented to accurately reflect their care of the patient. 
  • Participating in the unit rotation's Outpatient Clinics.
  • Being responsive to the expectations and needs of both clinical and non-clinical colleagues. 
  • Conducting research as required. 

Please note: As per the SMOEA 2022, the total term of employment with SA Health will be 3 years. Rotations following the initial 12-month allocation as Advanced Trainee will be determined in line with your training and SA Health’s requirements. This may include transfer to other SA Health locations to perform work appropriate to classification, skills and capabilities.

About you:

  • Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent, registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with General Registration.
  • Undertaking a RANZCOG training program. 
  • Knowledge and experience at 4 years of RANZCOG training or as a TMO in a recognised teaching hospital.
  • Some experience as an Advanced Trainee
  • Clinical competence in the practice of Obstetrics and Gynaecology as expected in line with experience. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people including colleagues and other professional staff.
