Elevate Patient Care: Acute Social Work Manager Role with SALHN!

As the Manager of Acute Social Work & Counselling Services, you'll spearhead the strategic direction, development, and evaluation of clinical social work support and counselling services across SALHN acute services, ensuring high-quality, evidence-based care that contributes to improved patient outcomes. You'll foster a collaborative environment that promotes professional growth, research opportunities, and innovative solutions to meet evolving healthcare demands, while overseeing the department's budget and advocating for social work issues within the Allied Health Division, Acute Services. This pivotal role requires a strong commitment to advancing the profession through clinical placements and partnerships with regional agencies and community organizations.

About the role: 

Reporting to the Director of Allied Health, Acute Services, some of your duties as the Acute Social Work Manager may involve:

  • Ensuring appropriate social work representation and participation in policy development on major policy and planning committees externally and within SALHN.
  • Fostering teamwork and cooperation in a  multidisciplinary environment.
  • Applying the FMC clinical governance framework to the Social Work service provision, including risk identification and development of risk management plan. 

About you:

  • Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australia Association of Social Workers.
  • Broad clinical experience at a senior level and demonstrated experience in a senior role. 
  • Experience in strategic planning and service development. 
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and direct staff and  students. 
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate and lead change. 
  • Skills in administration, financial, organisational, performance and human resource management.
