Reshape Cardiovascular Care: Cardiology Research Consultant Role

As a Cardiology Research Consultant, you will spearhead the oversight and management of patient-related clinical trials, ensuring exceptional care delivery through your clinical expertise and leadership within a multidisciplinary team. This pivotal role entails actively imparting knowledge to medical students, trainees, and allied healthcare professionals on clinical trial participation and performance. Additionally, you will contribute to continuous quality improvement efforts, encompassing clinical audits, risk management activities, research endeavours, and ongoing medical education initiatives.

About the role: 

Reporting to the Network Director for the Division of Medicine and the Network Director of the Cardiology Department, some of your duties as the Cardiology research consultant may involve: 

  • Providing appropriate support, direction and training to trainee medical officers and medical students. 
  • Providing appropriate specialist level care to patients.
  • Contributing to an after-hours-on-call service in accordance with a roster agreed by the department director. 

About you:

  • Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent. Appropriate Specialist Qualifications and registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration; or another qualification as defined in the SA Medical Officers Award.
  • Research Degree PhD or Masters.
  • Experience in Clinical Research including managing clinical trials, patient recruitment, data handling, ethics process and GCP. 
  • Experience with the supervision and teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate medical staff.
  • Extensive clinical experience relevant to work in cardiology to a high standard. 
  • Demonstrated participation in approved continuing medical education since attaining specialist qualification.
