  • Part Time - Term Contract (temporary until 30 June 2027) 

 

About the Opportunity

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the Infectious Diseases team as a Consultant / Senior Consultant, where you will be responsible for:

  • The provision of high-quality inpatient, outpatient and community based Infectious Diseases Care Service focusing on obstetric and perinatal infections.
  • Specialist clinical infectious diseases consultation incorporates all sectors within the WCHN including general paediatric infectious diseases and the consultant will be expected to provide this, but the main focus will be obstetric and perinatal infections.
  • Participation in the after-hours and weekend Infectious Diseases consultant on-call roster.
  • Development and maintenance of evidence-based guidelines regarding management of infections during pregnancy and the peripartum period.
  • Ensuring that clients are managed using evidence based best practice.
  • Supporting education and research within the Service and will participate in and support teamwork amongst staff for optimal clinical service outcomes.
  • Laboratory liaison with SA Pathology and other pathology services as appropriate, to ensure high quality communication of results critical/important to clinical outcomes.

 

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent.  Working towards or completion of appropriate Specialist Qualifications and registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration; or another qualification as defined in the SA Medical Officers Award.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal), including the ability to work with individuals and families for positive health outcomes and to foster productive working relationships both internally and externally.
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing a quality service to patients.
  • Clinical experience in Infectious Diseases service provision.
  • Experience in a large public hospital and in community settings.
  • Knowledge of contemporary practice and research in relation to Infectious Diseases.
