About the role

We’re looking for a driven and detail-oriented professional to join our team and play a key role in delivering high-quality diagnostic pathology services. In this hands-on position, you'll apply your scientific and technical expertise to perform and evaluate a variety of diagnostic techniques that are essential to patient care. You’ll be actively involved in planning, executing and reporting results, while ensuring the day-to-day operations of the service are efficient, accurate and cost-effective. Your contributions will directly support positive health outcomes and enhance the performance of our diagnostic team.

This role offers the opportunity to engage in continuous improvement and innovation, with scope to contribute to the development and adoption of new methodologies and technologies. You'll assist in training and supervising laboratory staff, while also supporting teaching and research initiatives within the department. Working closely with the Unit Head and Directorate Manager, you’ll have a say in shaping the strategic direction of the discipline. About You

You’re a qualified and experienced medical laboratory scientist with a strong foundation in diagnostic pathology and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care. With well-developed technical and communication skills, you thrive in a collaborative environment and are ready to take the next step in your career.

  • Hold a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) or equivalent

  • Demonstrated experience in diagnostic testing, including HPLC and/or mass spectrometry

  • Strong knowledge of quality systems, laboratory standards, and WHS practices

  • Excellent communication, time management, and problem-solving skills with the ability to supervise and support team members
