SA Health invites a passionate and dedicated Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic team in a Part-time, Ongoing position working at 22.5 hours per week within the Older Persons Mental Health Specialised Services (OPMHSS). This unique opportunity allows you to make a profound impact on the lives of older adults across various regional Local Health Networks (LHNs) in South Australia.

As a member of the multi-disciplinary OPMHSS team, hosted within the Rural and Remote Mental Health Service, you will play a vital role in providing specialist and responsive in-reach services to Residential Aged Care Facilities. Your expertise will be invaluable in supporting consumers with severe psychiatric illnesses, dementia, and complex behavioural and psychological symptoms.

Embracing a holistic approach, you will collaborate with families, aged care staff, and mental health professionals to streamline and facilitate specialist care pathways. Through distance consultation, information, and advice, you will empower others to better manage psychiatric illnesses and build their skills in addressing behavioural and psychological challenges.

This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the prevention and reduction of inappropriate transfers to acute care or emergency departments. Your commitment to education and training will enable you to share your knowledge and expertise, empowering regional mental health and aged care staff to provide exceptional care.

Based at the Glenside Campus, this position requires regular travel, including overnight stays, to various regional LHNs, depending on service requirements. Flexibility and the ability to respond promptly are essential.

Qualifications

Must hold a recognised Occupational Therapy qualification and as a regulated profession be eligible for registration as an occupational therapist within Australia.
