About the Opportunity

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the Neurosurgery team as a Surgical Neurophysiologist, where you will be responsible for:

  • Deliver expert intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring (IONM) for complex paediatric neurosurgical and spinal procedures.
  • Apply specialised techniques including electrocorticography (ECoG) and intraoperative electrophysiology in epilepsy surgery workups.
  • Provide IONM support for cranial, spinal, supratentorial, and infratentorial surgeries.
  • Work with professional independence to ensure patient safety through real-time neural function assessment.
  • Collaborate closely with surgical teams to guide intraoperative decision-making and optimise outcomes.
  • Coordinate and prioritise a program of tailored neurophysiological services, including detailed clinical reporting.

 

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) or degree in Clinical Neurophysiology or equivalent
  • Proven ability to work with professional independence, under general policy direction, to determine operational priorities, strategies and work standards, and use significant initiative to undertake duties of a crucial nature in alignment with established professional standards.
  • Proven ability to operate with high levels of competence in the real-time interpretation of neurophysiological data and to apply calm decision-making in high-stakes environments
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating, prioritising and delivering a program of work and related research that ensures the delivery of best practice real-time assessments of neural function, including managing private practice and scientific operations.
  • Extensive IONM experience in cranial and spinal surgeries, including contributing to interdisciplinary meetings with neurology, neuropsychology, neuropsychiatry and neurosurgery consultants and in intraoperative monitoring in paediatric populations.
