Are you a nursing leader ready to shape the future of mental health rehabilitation? This pivotal role as the Nursing Director, Mental Health Rehabilitation Services, offers an exciting opportunity to lead and innovate across the Trevor Parry Centre and the Noarlunga Mental Health Rehabilitation Unit. You'll drive strategic and professional excellence, ensuring the delivery of safe, quality nursing care aligned with the mental health division's clinical service plan and strategic direction. Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, including the Allied Health Manager and Head of Unit, to integrate professional nursing and evidence-based perspectives with strategic vision. This is your chance to champion governance and practice standards for nurses and midwives, cultivate healthy work environments, and ensure cost-effective health service provision, all while embodying the SA Health Leadership and Management Capability Framework and SALHN Values.

About the role: 

Duties for the role will include:

  • Integrate contemporary information and research evidence with personal knowledge and experience to support the delivery of contemporary nursing practice.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive workforce strategies focused on optimising skill mix, reducing agency utilisation, and managing expenditure, while leading recruitment, rostering, and performance management for nursing staff.
  • Provide professional and corporate leadership for nursing/midwifery activities, including financial budgeting and management, guiding the use of information systems for informed decision-making, and contributing to human resource systems for staff recruitment, development, and retention.
  • Lead the establishment of healthy working environments, foster respectful relationships and learning cultures, and actively participate in advisory groups and committees.
  • Drive systemic change processes, initiate and oversee innovations in nursing/midwifery practice, and contribute to state-wide leadership and planning on professional nursing and midwifery issues

About you:

  • You are a highly capable Registered Nurse/Midwife with over five years of post-registration experience and a current practicing certificate.
  • You demonstrate exceptional leadership abilities, including strong communication, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills, with a proven capacity to manage services and resources effectively under pressure.
  • Your background includes significant experience as a leader or manager within the healthcare sector, having successfully led complex projects and guided organizations through periods of substantial change
  • You are proficient in translating evidence into practice, leading quality improvement initiatives and devising nursing workforce initiatives that support attraction and retention of skilled workforce.
