Allied Health Assistant Wanted: Compassionate Patient Care at SA Health

As an Allied Health Assistant in our Virtual Rehab Ward, you'll have the opportunity to directly impact patient care and recovery. Working alongside our dedicated multidisciplinary team, you'll provide crucial support with therapeutic activities, mobility assistance, and patient transfers. This hands-on role allows you to develop your healthcare skills while making a meaningful difference in people's lives.

About the role: 

Reporting to the Virtual Rehabilitation Ward Manager & the AHP3 Physiotherapist, this role will be involved in the provision of multidisciplinary assessment, rehabilitation interventions, goal setting and care planning in collaboration with the patient, their family, carer, general practice, and existing community services involved in their care. Duties for the role will include:

  • Undertaking therapy programs for individual patients or groups of patients under general direction of AH staff,
  • Continually refine and evaluate Rehabilitation Unit protocols, assessment formats, services and processes to enable coordinated discharge planning,
  • Collection and analysis of data to provide information on patient progress or services,
  • Involvement in the development, evaluation and review of patient care programmes in conjunction with the therapy staff

About you:

  • Certificate 4 in Allied Health Assistance, or equivalent, 
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of staff, patients and external agencies both orally and in writing,
  • Experience working in health care, preferably with in an acute or sub-acute rehabilitation setting,
  • Experience working as an Allied Health Assistant across a variety of AH disciplines.
  • Must have current South Australian driver’s license and willingness to drive a government plated vehicle when employed in a community setting.
