About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Social Worker (AHP2) to join our multidisciplinary Mental Health Team within the Acute Inpatient Mental Health Unit at Central Adelaide Local Health Network (CALHN). In this role, you will deliver timely, evidence-based assessments, interventions, care planning, and support programs that focus on recovery-oriented outcomes for consumers, their families, and carers. Your expertise will be central to facilitating optimal discharge planning and supporting the overall mental health recovery journey.

You will demonstrate a proficient level of clinical knowledge and professional skill, contributing to improved outcomes through collaborative care, early intervention, and holistic psychosocial support. In addition to direct service delivery, you will participate in quality improvement initiatives, planning activities, and ongoing professional development, making a meaningful impact within a responsive and high-performing mental health environment.

About You

You are a qualified and experienced Social Worker with a strong foundation in mental health service delivery, committed to recovery-oriented care and collaborative, consumer-centred outcomes. Your ability to assess, engage, and support individuals with complex needs makes you a valuable contributor to a multidisciplinary team environment.

  • Hold an appropriate degree or equivalent qualification, with eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.

  • Demonstrated expertise in biopsychosocial and risk assessments, therapeutic interventions, care planning, and consumer engagement in acute mental health settings.

  • Strong communication, consultation, and time management skills, with the ability to work autonomously and uphold professional and ethical standards.

  • Sound knowledge of recovery practice, social work theory, AASW codes and standards, and relevant legislation, with a strong understanding of community services and strategic mental health directions.
