About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Safety and Quality Lead Pharmacist to drive excellence in safety and medication management across SA Pharmacy. This leadership role is responsible for supporting and implementing safety and quality initiatives, with a particular focus on medication safety practices that align with national standards and local governance frameworks. You will provide expert guidance to pharmacy teams and contribute to the continuous improvement of clinical outcomes through robust safety programs.

As a key advisor, you will collaborate with the SA Pharmacy Safety and Quality portfolio holder and Directors of Pharmacy to ensure alignment with the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards. You will also develop and execute a comprehensive safety and quality strategy, supporting pharmacy services across all Local Health Networks. This role holds accountability for monitoring, addressing, and improving safety practices to deliver consistent, high-quality patient care.

About You

You will be a qualified and registered pharmacist with demonstrated leadership in safety, quality, and medication management. With proven experience in hospital pharmacy practice and managing complex health projects, you bring a strategic, adaptable approach to service improvement and multidisciplinary collaboration.

  • Hold a Bachelor of Pharmacy (or equivalent) and be registered or eligible for registration with the Pharmacy Board of Australia.

  • Demonstrated leadership, change management, and communication skills, with the ability to influence safety and quality improvements.

  • Experienced in managing complex projects, delivering service improvements, and leading teams in dynamic healthcare settings.

  • Strong knowledge of quality systems, pharmacy practice standards, and the ability to analyse data and deliver innovative solutions.
