About the role: 

There are 10 positions available and all positions will be allocated to 6 month terms:

  • 1 x Hepatobiliary Service Registrar
  • 1 x Colorectal Service Registrar
  • 1 x Berri Service Registrar
  • 1 x Breast Service Registrar
  • 1 x GGIS Service Registrar
  • 2 x Night Acute Surgical Registrars
  • 2 x Day Acute Surgical Registrars
  • 1 x Relieving Acute Surgical Registrar

Reporting to the Head of Unit, General Surgery and Chief Surgical Resident, some of your duties may involve:

  • Undertaking 6 month rotations in Acute Surgical Registrar and a choice of Colorectal, HepatoPancreatoBiliary, Breast & Endocrine or Berri Service Registrar. 
  • Providing a consultative service to other units as required. 
  • Arranging x-ray/pathology review sessions.
  • Attending unit meetings. 

Please note: As per the SMOEA 2022, the total term of employment with SA Health will be 3 years. 

About you:

  • Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent. 
  • Registrable with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Medical Practitioner with General Registration. 
  • Successful completion of the GSSE. 
  • Minimum of 3 year post graduate medical experience (PGY3+).. 
  • Working towards application to Surgical Education Training with Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. 
  • Completed at least 12 months of General Surgery. 
  • Preferably have completed EMSTY, Ccrisp and ASSET course. 
  • Experience in research and audit work an advantage.
