As a Ward Administration Assistant - Reliever, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operations of the ward, providing exceptional administrative support and customer service. Your responsibilities will include managing patient inquiries, coordinate appointments, and maintaining accurate records, all while contributing to the delivery of high-quality patient care.

About the role: 

Reporting to the Medicine Administration Manager, this role is responsible for the provision of a relieving ward administrative, secretarial and reception service throughout the division ensuring that a complete and confidential administrative support service is provided. The position works in close proximity to patients and should have a working knowledge of hospital operations & activities. 

Duties for the role will include:

  • Assisting in the promotion of a customer-focussed culture, which enables patients and their families and carers to be involved in decision making as appropriate,
  • Assuming responsibility for own development and maintaining knowledge and skills relevant to the area of practice and participation in performance development programs,
  • Promoting and acting in accordance with all State, Hospital and Unit specific policies and procedures including the hospital’s Release of Information Policy,
  • Attending to all enquiries from external and internal customers in a professional, courteous, positive and timely manner

About you:

  • Ability to respond to a diverse range of people in a courteous, helpful manner under a variety of conditions, e.g. heavy work load, aggressive clients,
  • Experience working within an administrative area, preferably within a health setting,
  • Experience in the use of computers and software applications including word processing and electronic mail,
  • Ability to liaise with health professionals in a manner, which is conducive to a customer focused, team orientated environment,
  • Ability to adapt to changing environment as position will be required to work in multiple roles
