About the Role:

The Northern Adelaide Local Health Network is seeking a passionate and skilled Gastroenterology Registrar to join the team within our Gastroenterology Unit.

The Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN) is a leading provider of public healthcare services in South Australia.

As a Gastroenterology Registrar, you will have the privilege of working alongside a team of highly skilled professionals, providing exceptional care to patients with a wide range of gastrointestinal disorders. This role offers a unique opportunity to enhance your clinical expertise, expand your knowledge and contribute to the advancement of gastroenterology within a supportive and dynamic environment.

Potential subspecialty focus areas, to be determined by the Gastroenterology Registrar, include:

  • Inflammatory bowel disease – opportunity for subspecialty clinic attendance, organising multidisciplinary team meetings, interventional endoscopy exposure and intestinal ultrasound training
  • Hepatology – high-volume inpatient and outpatient liver disease management, participation in liver disease clinics, organising multidisciplinary team meetings
  • Motility disorders – training in conduct and reporting of manometry studies, interventional endoscopy exposure

Irrespective of the subspecialty focus, this position includes the following responsibilities:

  • supporting junior registrars and ward staff with inpatient care
  • participation in an emergency on call roster
  • availability for provision of emergency endoscopy service for hospital inpatients
  • assisting with procedural lists when required (provided Conjoint Committee approval completed)
  • organisation of multidisciplinary meetings
  • a commitment to ongoing quality assurance including clinical meetings, teaching, daily ward rounds and clinical audit
  • undertaking undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and to participate in quality assurance activities of the Gastroenterology Unit.

As per the SA Health Salaried Medical Officers Enterprise Agreement 2022, the total term of employment with SA Health will be 3 years. Rotations following the initial 12 month allocation as Medical Practitioner will be determined in line with your training and SA Health’s requirements. This may include transfer to other SA Health locations to perform work appropriate to classification, skills and capabilities.

To be eligible for this position, you must hold a Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent, registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with General Registration.

The Total Indicative Remuneration figure is calculated taking into account base salary, leave loading and superannuation as well as managerial allowances, professional development or any other allowances where appropriate.
