About the Role:

The Northern Adelaide Local Health Network is seeking passionate and skilled Speech Pathologists to work within the dynamic fields of Aged Care, Rehabilitation and Palliative Care.

The Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN) is a leading provider of public healthcare services in South Australia.

As a Speech Pathologist, you will play a crucial role in assessing, diagnosing and treating communication and swallowing disorders across the continuum of care. Your expertise will be invaluable in helping patients regain their independence, improve their quality of life and navigate the challenges they face.

Speech Pathology services are offered across a variety of inpatient, home-based and community settings within the Rehabilitation and Geriatric clinical services based mostly at Modbury with some outreach community work. In this role, you will have the opportunity to rotate through a number of clinical services:

  • Geriatrics: Provision of speech pathology assessment, diagnosis and treatment for older adults while liaising with their families and carers. Areas of work include the inpatient Geriatric Evaluation Management service, the inpatient Geriatric Rehabilitation ward, Geriatrics in the Home, Northern Reablement and Intermediate Care to Return Home (NRICH) program at ACH Healthia and Acute Care of the Elderly (ACE) inpatient service based at Lyell McEwin Hospital
  • Rehabilitation: Provision of speech pathology assessment, diagnosis and treatment for adults participating in rehabilitation. This may involve assessment and intervention for adults with a range of diagnoses including stroke, progressive neurological conditions, brain injury and deconditioning. Areas within rehabilitation include: the inpatient rehabilitation wards, the Day Rehabilitation Service (6 week rehabilitation program in an outpatient setting) and the Rehabilitation in the Home program

Appointment to the role will be at the AHP1 or AHP2 level, dependent on the level of experience.

To be eligible for this position, you must hold an appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which gives eligibility for full membership of Speech Pathology Australia.
