  • Position will be a 12-month contract located at Pt Augusta Hospital & Regional Health Service

Duration of the training program: 12 months from 3/2/25 - 1/2/26 

Term of the Contract: 3 Years in line with clause 52 of the Salaried Medical Officers Enterprise Agreement

At the end of the training program, CALHN will work with the employee to find a suitable placement within SA Health for the remainder of the 3 year contract.                        

About the role

As a General Surgery Registrar, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality patient care across inpatient, emergency, and surgical settings. Working closely with Consultants, you will manage the assessment and treatment of patients, ensuring timely and accurate clinical decisions. You will be the first point of contact for new referrals from the Emergency Department and wards, contributing to both elective and emergency surgical care.

In addition to clinical responsibilities, you will be involved in ongoing patient management, assisting in theatre, and participating in quality improvement initiatives. This role also provides opportunities for professional development through active involvement in teaching and continuing education activities, supporting your growth as a surgical clinician.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent. 
  • Registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with General Registration.
