Overview

The Rural and Remote Mental Health Service (RRMHS) inpatient Services provides a range of treatment, therapy and educative programs for people with a mental health illness. Based at Glenside Campus, the Service links closely with community mental health services in relation to care coordination, care planning, clinical case management, assessment, rehabilitation and crisis intervention services.

The Allied Health Assistant contributes to the delivery of a comprehensive and integrated range of evidenced based, recovery orientated services across the RRMHS multi-disciplinary team appropriate to the needs of the consumer, to support their hospitalisation, facilitate a safe and sustainable discharge plan leading to improved functioning and community integration.

Under the supervision of a Social Worker, the Allied Health Assistant provides a range of non-clinical, integrated psychosocial support services to mental health consumers residing in RRMHS. The Allied Health assistant works to assist consumers and service providers to understand the concept of recovery, rehabilitation and serve as a recovery and wellness/ information role. Tasks and duties performed will be of a practical nature, through the provision of direct day to day tasks supporting the consumer's accomplishment of stated goals within the consumer care plan.

Qualifications

Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance, or equivalent.
