About the Role

As a Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) in Geriatric Services, you will play a pivotal role in coordinating and leading patient-centred care for a complex and vulnerable patient group. Your expertise will focus on the needs of geriatric patients, ensuring continuity of care and developing models that drive quality outcomes. This role offers the opportunity to apply your clinical knowledge while managing nursing activities and supporting a multidisciplinary team in delivering high-quality care.

You will be responsible for ensuring nursing practice aligns with policies, addressing any inconsistencies, and fostering a positive and collaborative team environment. Your leadership will directly contribute to improving patient outcomes, driving team performance, and ensuring the highest standards of care for older persons within the healthcare setting.

About You

You are an experienced and motivated nursing professional with strong leadership skills and a passion for delivering person-centred care in a geriatric setting. You excel in leading teams, driving quality care outcomes, and fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.

  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, holding (or eligible to hold) a current practising certificate.

  • Proven leadership skills with strengths in communication, problem-solving, change management, and fostering staff development.

  • Demonstrated clinical competence in geriatric care, with at least 3 years post-registration experience, including team leadership and supervision.

  • Sound knowledge of nursing standards, legislation, contemporary geriatric practices, and the Australian National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards.
