The Primary objectives of the Paramedic Research Fellow are to;

  • Make independent and original contributions to ethical, high-quality, and innovative research.
  • Develop and coordinate activities to enable evidence-based research to be undertaken in SAAS. This research will be both monitor and measure clinical practice and support clinical advances to ambulance practice.
  • Oversea activities designed to enable the creation and maintenance of an ambulance service research platform including collaborating with other ambulance services, healthcare services, universities, and research institutes.

Key Responsibilities: 

Develop a strategic research plan for SAAS in consultation with the Clinical Services Leadership Team, ensuring alignment with SA Health's Research Ethics and Governance Policy.

Establish and maintain a SAAS Research Registry, and implement systems to support the efficient coordination, delivery, assessment, and administration of all research activities undertaken by SAAS.
 
Conduct high-quality, innovative research, including sustained publications, external grant acquisition, and mentoring early career researchers. 

Provide leadership in developing research training packages, exploring alternative delivery methodologies, and applying modern technology to research initiatives.

Ensure that research programs and projects align with SAAS strategic research priorities, regularly reviewing progress and collaborating with relevant stakeholders to maintain quality improvement, assurance, and clinical audit processes.

Foster and maintain effective working relationships with SAAS Directorates, Flinders University, industry professionals, SA Health, and other state government entities to promote research collaborations, information sharing, and knowledge exchange.

Application Information: 

  • The role is currently offered at a 0.5 Part Time FTE, however, increase in hours may be offered in partnership with Flinders University.
