About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Nurse Consultant – Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) to lead patient education and support for those living with renal conditions. You will provide vital information on treatment options, including renal replacement therapy, vascular access, transplantation, and conservative care. Through a referral pathway and use of a patient database you will help navigate individuals through their healthcare journey, ensuring they receive personalised, informed care every step of the way.

In this important role, you will also develop and implement a comprehensive care model for CKD, contributing to the achievement of service goals and quality measures. You’ll collaborate closely with renal nursing teams—such as Predialysis and Access Coordinators, Transplant Nurses, and Nurse Practitioners—alongside multidisciplinary professionals to deliver coordinated, patient-centred care that improves outcomes for those with kidney disease.

About You

We’re looking for a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse with strong leadership skills and a passion for renal nursing. You’ll thrive in a collaborative, patient-centred environment and be committed to fostering staff development and delivering innovative care.

  • Registered or eligible for registration as a General Nurse with the Nursing Board of Australia, holding or eligible for a current practising certificate.

  • Proven clinical leadership with excellent communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills; ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.

  • Demonstrated experience in renal nursing practice, including patient management, education, and leadership, with at least 3 years post-registration experience.

  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, professional standards, quality improvement systems, and a commitment to promoting consumer engagement and change management.
