Overview

We invite you to join our supportive and dynamic OT team at Yorke and Northern Local Health Network, Port Pirie working with adults in our regional hospitals and communities.

As a rural generalist occupational therapist at YNLHN, you will get to work with a clinically diverse caseload across the adult life span. Please note, this role does not provide services to children.

You will get opportunities to:

  • Support consumers to rehabilitate while in hospital,
  • Assist consumers to discharge home safely through planning, equipment, home modifications, skill building and support services
  • Within My Aged Care programs, work to maximise independence in older consumers through education, assistive technology, environmental changes and support services.
  • Apply restorative approaches to support consumers to regain function and independence.
  • Partner with consumers, carers, and a multi-disciplinary team to find solutions to complex clinical needs to support positive consumer outcomes.
  • Team-up with clinical specialists to identify, script and supply customised equipment to meet consumer needs including wheelchairs, seating solutions and pressure management.
  • Assist consumers at end of life to maximise safety to remain home longer.
  • Travel throughout our beautiful region to deliver services to consumers where they are
  • Actively assist consumers to rehabilitate following traumatic hand injuries, hand surgeries, and burns, and work with consumers to manage chronic conditions including lymphoedema.
  • Participate in ongoing service provision and improvement projects
  • Contribute to the profession through student placements and projects, and work experience opportunities.
  • Opportunities to engage in ongoing professional development

Location

Set against a dramatic backdrop of the Southern Flinders Ranges on the shores of Spencer Gulf lies Port Pirie. The Mid North region is renowned for its superb rural panoramas, culturally unique townships and is South Australia’s gateway to the outback and Southern Flinders Ranges. The area is made up of ancient and dramatic landscapes, peaceful tree lined gorges and a wealth of native wildlife. This is a place to explore fishing, outback camping, bush walking, four-wheel driving, cycling, photography and much more.

Port Pirie has the largest case-mix funded health service in the YNLHN and provides outreach to 8 regional sites including Port Broughton, Crystal Brook, Gladstone, Jamestown, Laura, Booleroo, Orroroo and Peterborough (max 1.5hrs drive from Pirie).

Eligibility

Please note that this position is multi-classed as either a AHP1 or AHP2 and classification will be determined by qualifications, knowledge and experience.

Must hold a recognised qualification within a relevant Allied Health profession, and be eligible for practicing membership of the relevant Professional Association. For those professions requiring registration, all requirements to obtain and maintain current registration must be fulfilled. For self-regulated professions it is desirable to participate in the professional association accredited continuing professional development program.
