About the role: 

Reporting to the Network Director of Cardiology, this role is responsible for providing comprehensive CMR imaging across the region and the teaching of Undergraduates and Postgraduates, Administrative tasks, Research projects and be involved in Professional and Community Services activities. In addition to services in the Southern Adelaide Health Service they may provide outreach services to country South Australia and the Northern Territory. Duties for the role will include:

  • Providing a range of cardiac magnetic resonance services including:
    • Congenital Imaging
    • Stress Imaging
    • Cardiomyopathy Imaging
  • Assist in the organisation and efficient management of cardiovascular diseases,
  • Supervise and teach medical students, postgraduate internal medicine trainees and other staff as specified by the head of the unit and/or Division,
  • Assist with research activities as specified by the Unit Head or Director, Division of Medicine, Cardiac and Critical Care Services by conducting Cardiology research and collaborate with other units within the hospital and other cardiology units

About you:

  • Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent,
  • Registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with General Registration,
  • Comprehensive understanding of the role of a Cardiology Physician in a Teaching Hospital environment,
  • Experience in all cardiac investigations including ECG reporting, echocardiography reporting, Holter monitor reporting,
  • Participation in the RACP MOPS program or its successor is expected

As per the SMOEA 2022, the total term of employment with SA Health will be 3 years. Rotations following the initial 12-month allocation will be determined in line with your training and SA Health’s requirements. This may include transfer to other SA Health locations to perform work appropriate to classification, skills, and capabilities.
