About the role

As the CT Head Radiographer at Flinders Medical Centre, you will lead the daily clinical and operational management of the CT Unit.

Reporting to the Chief Radiographer and Campus Operations Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing procedure scheduling, workload distribution and CT departmental staffing allocation, problem solving, and dynamic resource coordination to ensure the delivery of a timely, high-quality imaging service.

You will set professional and procedural standards for the CT service, ensuring optimal patient outcomes through efficient management and clinical excellence, which you will then instil in your team around you through methods of transformational leadership and coaching.

This will be done in a variety of ways for example but not limited to direct 1:1 teaching, departmental CPD sessions and formal Performance Review and Development discussions.

This highly specialised role involves not just undertaking complex imaging procedures, including interventional, cardiac, neonatal, and paediatric scans as well as time critical trauma and stroke imaging, requiring innovative scanning techniques and independent decision-making, but leading the wider team to excel in these environments too.

Your experience and knowledge will allow you to contribute to research, clinical audits, and lead or oversee (after suitable delegation) multidisciplinary CT-related projects.

As a key member of the imaging team, you will also participate in monthly Section Head meetings and others as necessary, ensuring seamless and cohesive service and an aligned clinical leadership delivery across the whole department in what is a very dynamic healthcare environment.

About You

You are an experienced and highly skilled CT Radiographer with advanced clinical expertise, strong leadership capabilities, and a commitment to continuous improvement. Your ability to manage complex workloads, lead change, and foster a supportive team environment ensures the delivery of high-quality imaging services within a dynamic healthcare setting.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Current registration with the Medical Radiation Practice Board of Australia and a valid Radiation Licence, with extensive experience in advanced CT imaging procedures.
  • Proven leadership skills with high-level communication, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and the ability to manage change and support staff development.
  • Demonstrated advanced competency in at least two CT sub-specialties, such as Cardiac, Paediatric or Neurosurgical, with strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Sound knowledge of CT safety, radiation protection regulations, and workplace health and safety principles, coupled with strong IT and reporting skills.
