About the Role:

The Northern Adelaide Local Health Network is seeking exceptional individuals to join our Forensic Mental Health Service as a Community Rehabilitation Worker.

The Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN) is a leading provider of public healthcare services in South Australia.

Ashton House provides a range of recovery orientated and treatment services, therapy and educative programs to forensic consumers during the period of transition from a secure inpatient setting and the community, or those consumers in the community requiring an intervention to reduce risk of a readmission to a secure unit. Ashton House works closely with the inpatient treating team, community mental health services and other community systems of support and care and across the justice system.

The unit offers clinical case assessment and management, rehabilitation and preventative intervention services to consumers who are found Not Guilty By Reason of Mental Impairment under s269 of the Criminal Law Consolidation (Mental Impairment) Amendment Act 1995.

As a Community Rehabilitation Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting clients with complex mental health needs, many of whom have been involved with the criminal justice system. In this role, you will provide support to consumers in the least restrictive environment possible through the provision of effective psychosocial support and rehabilitation activities in order to successfully enable the transition to community living and to support individual recovery.

Your primary responsibilities will include providing rehabilitation, support and guidance to clients, assisting them in developing essential life skills.

About You:

Are you a dedicated, compassionate, and emotionally intelligent individual who can maintain professional boundaries?

Do you have a passion for supporting others to make healthy choices and develop practical life skills like cooking, cleaning, gardening, and self-care?

Do you aim for 10,000 steps a day and love the idea of helping others build incidental exercise into their everyday routines?

Would you take pride in keeping a shared office space tidy and welcoming?

If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you! You might be the perfect fit to join our dynamic team as a Community Rehabilitation Worker.

In this role, you’ll bring excellent interpersonal and communication skills, along with strong English language proficiency. You’ll be confident in problem-solving, conflict resolution and negotiation - including having respectful, honest conversations when they’re tough.

You understand the difference between doing with and doing for and you see yourself as a lifelong learner. The ability to juggle multiple competing priorities, work in a complex and sometimes high-pressure environment and demonstrate resilience will be key to your success in this role.
