Duration of the training program: 12 months from 2/2/26 up to 29/1/27

Term of the Contract: 3 Years in line with clause 52 of the Salaried Medical Officers Enterprise Agreement

At the end of the training program, CALHN will work with the employee to find a suitable placement within SA Health for the remainder of the 3 year contract.

About the role

An exciting opportunity is presented for an individual with a solid background and genuine interest in Respiratory or Sleep Medicine.  The positions are based at one of South Australia's Local Health Networks. Preferences are to be made in the application.

A multi-faceted role where you will be required to maintain the high standards and principles of the regional health service through your individual performance, as an integral member of the medical unit and division, and as part of the broader institution-wide multi-disciplinary service. You will also play a key role in the education of medical students, junior medical staff, and other professional colleagues, and will be required to actively engage in research activities.

Registered with the Medical Board of Australia and having completed the FRACP written and clinical examinations or having completed the FRACP written exam and are eligible for provisional training you will bring appropriate post graduate experience. A team player who can operate effectively as part of a team or individually, you will demonstrate competency in a range of routine and common procedural ward-based skills. You will possess high level skills in negotiation and communication, exhibiting the ability to display genuine empathy for patients and their relatives and family. Able to work under pressure without compromising patient care, you will have proven skills in problem solving and decision making at both the clinical and the individual level. 

To be eligible for this position you must hold a Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent, registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with General Registration.

As per the SA Health Salaried Medical Officers Enterprise Agreement 2022, the total term of employment with SA Health will be 3 years. Rotations following the initial 12 month allocation as Medical Practitioner will be determined in line with your training and SA Health’s requirements. This may include transfer to other SA Health locations to perform work appropriate to classification, skills and capabilities.
