Join our Hepatology Team

The Department of Hepatology and Liver Transplant Medicine brings together staff from academic and clinical backgrounds in medical, surgical, scientific, nursing and allied health to work towards better patient care through an integrated approach to liver health. The department provides a focus for education and research activities in liver health.

About the role: 

As the Hepatology Consultant, you will be involved in the management of Hepatology and Liver Transplant inpatients and outpatients, participation in on-call rosters (Hepatology/Transplant and emergency endoscopy) and endoscopy lists (general gastroenterology). Duties for the role will include:

  • Provide a high quality clinical service and clinical leadership,
  • Provide appropriate support, direction and training to trainee medical officers and medical students,
  • Participating in programs designed to provide personal growth and development,
  • Contributing to the supervision of postgraduate students.

Additionally, the appointed candidate(s) are expected to undertake a PhD with FUSA under the supervision of the Hepatology unit.

About you:

  • Experience in Hepatology and management of Liver Transplant patients
  • Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent
  • Appropriate Specialist Qualifications and registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration; or another qualification as defined in the SA Medical Officers Award.
  • Fellowship of the RACP with advanced training in gastroenterology, or equivalent.
  • Conjoint Committee accreditation in upper and lower GI endoscopy.
  • Potential to supervise and manage staff.
  • Ability to function effectively in a busy clinical environment involving multidisciplinary staff.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
