About the role: 

Reporting to the Manager, this role is responsible for providing comprehensive psychological assessment, intervention, and consultation services to patients across various clinical areas within SALHN. The Psychologist is a member of an interdisciplinary Allied Health team working within Transition Services providing comprehensive psychology services to patients admitted to the Bangka Strait ward.

Duties for the role will include:

  • Providing a specialist psychology service including assessment, treatment/ management planning, intervention, evaluation and consultation to patients,
  • Participating in interdisciplinary clinical and planning activities to enhance the overall service provided to clients,
  • Documenting assessment findings and interventions in accordance with service standards,
  • Maintaining and collating relevant work statistics and reporting to Manager Transition Services and relevant Discipline Director on service issues and staffing requirements for the position

About you:

  • Full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA)
  • Ability to assume responsibility for the organisation and provision of psychology services to the Bangka Strait ward as a member of an interdisciplinary team. This includes ability to undertake assessment and intervention with clients with a variety of disorders and disabilities, including management of complex cases,
  • Ability to critically analyse or evaluate issues related to psychology in a manner which can be applied to quality activities, service evaluation, professional education or research with a commitment to ongoing professional development,
  • Experience as a clinician in the assessment and provision of high-quality rehabilitation to clients with a variety of neurological or orthopaedic conditions,
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining high standards of psychology
